Cascades has unveiled its new 2026–2030 sustainability plan, titled Rising Together, outlining the company’s priorities and commitments for the next five years.
The Quebec-based manufacturer of packaging, hygiene products and recovery solutions also announced the renewal and creation of several environmental partnerships, representing more than $500,000 in investments in 2026.
The plan is structured around four pillars—Protected Nature, Eco-designed Products, Fulfilled Employees, and Engaged Partners—and includes 18 commitments and 10 measurable targets aimed at increasing the company’s positive impact while reducing its environmental footprint and that of its customers.
Climate, Fiber, and Supply Chain Targets
Among its key commitments, Cascades plans to continue reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across both its operations and supply chain, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The company also reaffirmed its commitment to sourcing virgin fiber from well-managed forests that do not contribute to deforestation or the conversion of natural ecosystems. In parallel, Cascades intends to strengthen supplier requirements in areas such as environmental performance, human rights, and social responsibility.
On the health and safety front, the company aims to further improve its performance and position itself among industry leaders in terms of recordable incident rates.
“With Rising Together, our leadership in sustainability is expressed with even greater conviction. It is grounded in concrete, science-based commitments and extends across every stage of our value chain,” said Hugues Simon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cascades.
More Than $500,000 for Biodiversity
Alongside the launch of the plan, Cascades announced several partnerships focused on biodiversity protection and the preservation of natural environments.
The company is renewing its support for Parc Marie-Victorin for a five-year period, representing an annual investment of $275,000. It is also extending its partnerships with the David Suzuki Foundation ($100,000 per year for 2026 and 2027) and Granby Zoo ($50,000 annually over the same period).
A new one-year partnership has been established with Wildlife Habitat Canada, supported by a $50,000 investment aimed at advancing biodiversity protection initiatives.
In addition, Cascades is continuing its collaboration with Mission 1000 Tonnes, with an annual contribution of $30,000 through 2027 to support environmental cleanup and awareness efforts.
According to Hugo D’Amours, Vice-President, Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability, these partnerships directly support the company’s objective of nature preservation, identified as one of the core pillars of its sustainability strategy.
Founded in 1964, Cascades operates a network of 60 facilities across North America and employs nearly 9,000 people in the packaging, hygiene, and recovery sectors.
