Domtar reports Q2 progress on 2030 sustainability goals

Sustainability

Domtar has reported further progress on its 2030 Sustainability Strategy, highlighting advances in environmental stewardship, people and communities, and responsible business in its Q2 2026 update.

The company launched its 2025 Sustainability Report on June 25 and received the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Leadership in Conservation Award for its continued participation in the SFI Climate Smart Forestry Initiative and broader conservation efforts.

Domtar also advanced its biodiversity risk assessment framework through a dedicated workshop with internal subject matter experts. The initiative focused on assessing the company's dependencies, risks, impacts and opportunities to help prioritize facilities and prepare a pilot risk analysis for selected sites.

Environmental progress

Domtar disclosed its 2025 Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions inventory in the new sustainability report and reported significant progress on its Scope 3 emissions work, supported by an improved methodology to enhance completeness and accuracy.

The company also completed the third year of water reduction projects funded through its Water Reduction Capex Fund, achieving a 10% reduction in water consumption for its Paper & Packaging business unit through the first quarter of 2026 compared with 2020 levels.

People and communities

Under its Our People and Communities pillar, Domtar confirmed it invested $4.9 million in its operating communities during 2025, exceeding its annual $4 million target and remaining on track toward its cumulative $20 million goal by 2030.

The company also validated employees' volunteer hours to support the establishment of a 2030 volunteerism milestone later this year.

Domtar further advanced its talent development program by identifying successors for critical roles and implementing individualized development plans for most high-potential employees and successors, supporting its goal of achieving at least 85% participation by 2030.

Business unit-specific health and safety targets were also introduced and communicated to employees, reinforcing the company's long-term objective of achieving zero workplace injuries.

Responsible business

As part of its governance initiatives, Domtar submitted its annual report under Canada's Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act, strengthening disclosures related to supplier risk screening, training, due diligence and remediation.

The company's sustainability reporting also received external recognition, earning third place in the Natural Resources Sector category of Finance Montréal's Best Sustainability Report competition for its 2024 Sustainability Report.

The quarterly update is part of Domtar's ongoing reporting on progress toward the measurable objectives set out in its 2030 Sustainability Strategy.
