Pregis, a global leader in protective and flexible packaging, has taken a significant step toward its 2040 net-zero goal by transitioning six of its facilities to 100% wind power.
This renewable energy initiative, announced on December 4, 2024, will cut over 4,000 metric tons of CO2e annually—equivalent to the emissions from 3,723 cross-country car trips from New York to Los Angeles.
The selected facilities primarily produce Pregis EverTec™ curbside recyclable paper mailers, further aligning the company’s sustainability efforts with its products. EverTec mailers, designed for ecommerce fulfillment, feature the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) Certified Sourcing label and the How2Recycle designation for curbside recyclability.
“Achieving net zero requires bold actions,” said Kris Getty, Pregis’s Chief Sustainability Officer. “This milestone underscores our commitment to decarbonizing operations and aligns with the values of our customers and industry regulations.”
This initiative is part of Pregis’s broader decarbonization strategy, which includes transitioning global operations to renewable energy, enhancing energy efficiency, expanding solar energy installations, and innovating products with lower-carbon feedstocks.
