Sustana has released an updated version of its EnviroLife® life cycle assessment (LCA), providing customers with product-specific environmental data designed to support Scope 3 emissions reporting, material selection and packaging sustainability initiatives.
The company said growing expectations around environmental disclosure and sustainability claims are increasing demand for more transparent and verifiable data across the paper and packaging value chain. The latest EnviroLife LCA aims to address that need by offering mill-specific environmental information based on Sustana’s manufacturing processes and recycled fiber inputs.
According to Sustana, the assessment was completed using product-specific operational data and underwent an independent third-party critical review. The company says this approach provides a more representative view of environmental impacts than relying solely on industry-average data.
“As companies face increasing pressure to improve Scope 3 reporting and substantiate sustainability claims, access to credible, product-specific data matters,” said Aaron Ling, Sustainability Director at Sustana.
Life cycle assessments are increasingly being used by paper and packaging producers, converters and brand owners to evaluate the environmental impacts associated with material choices. Product-level data can also support procurement decisions and provide a stronger foundation for greenhouse gas reporting and sustainability disclosures.
Sustana said the updated EnviroLife LCA gives customers additional insight into the environmental implications of fiber sourcing decisions while helping them assess how recycled fiber can contribute to broader circularity and sustainability objectives.
The company believes facility-specific assessments will become increasingly important as sustainability performance plays a larger role in supplier evaluations, procurement strategies and regulatory reporting requirements.
For packaging brands, converters and manufacturers seeking more detailed environmental information, the updated assessment provides a tool for comparing fiber options, strengthening reporting practices and supporting more informed material selection decisions.
Sustana is a North American producer of recycled fiber and premium recycled paper products. The company supplies sustainable fiber-based materials to packaging, printing and specialty paper markets, with operations in Canada and the United States.
