IFPC 2026 to Spotlight Fibre Packaging Innovation

Event News

Industry leaders, researchers, and technology developers involved in molded fibre and paper-based packaging will gather in Stockholm this September for the fourth International Fibre Moulding and Paper Forming Conference (IFPC 2026).

Organized by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, the event will take place on September 23–24 at House of People in Stockholm and is expected to bring together stakeholders from across the value chain to discuss technological advances, market developments, and future opportunities in fibre-based packaging.

The conference has established itself as a key meeting point for professionals working with 3D shaped fibre products and paper-based packaging solutions. As brand owners and packaging manufacturers continue seeking alternatives to conventional plastics, interest in molded fibre technologies has grown significantly, driving innovation in materials, forming processes, recyclability, and product performance.

The two-day program will feature presentations from companies and research organizations active in packaging development and industrial-scale production.

Among the confirmed speakers is David Guerin, Global Director of the Packaging Science Center at L'Oréal, who will discuss the use of molded cellulose in premium cosmetics packaging and the challenges that remain in bringing such solutions to broader commercial adoption.

Other speakers include Sanna Fager, Chief Commercial Officer at PulPac, who will present developments in dry molded fibre technology and market adoption, and Victor Oredsson, Chief Operating Officer at Yangi, who will provide an overview of the company's FiberIQ™ system for industrial dry forming applications.

Research and innovation perspectives will also be represented by organizations such as VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, CTP, and RISE, while material and packaging specialists from Artemyn and G. Mondini will address topics ranging from mineral-enhanced molded fibre products to fibre-based packaging solutions for fresh food applications.

The conference agenda is organized around several themes, including market trends, process innovation, product development, recyclability, and research and development. Sessions will examine multilayer molded cellulose structures, airlaid fibre technologies, material performance, and packaging design approaches aimed at supporting circular economy objectives.

Participants will also have the opportunity to attend a guided tour of RISE's research facilities on September 22, providing an overview of current research programs, technical infrastructure, and pilot-scale development capabilities. A conference dinner at Stockholm's Viking Museum is also planned as part of the networking program.

According to the organizers, IFPC aims to provide a focused forum where industry and research communities can exchange knowledge, explore collaborations, and discuss the evolving role of fibre-based packaging in sustainable product development.

The 2025 edition attracted participants from across the molded fibre and paper packaging value chain, reflecting growing industry interest in technologies designed to reduce reliance on fossil-based packaging materials. Organizers expect the 2026 conference to continue that momentum as innovation in fibre forming and paper-based packaging accelerates.
