Nikki Stein only graduated from university five years ago, but she is already viewed as an innovative leader in the forest products industry.
On September 20, Nikki accepted a Rising Star Award from the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) for her contributions to the sector and to Canada’s forest communities.
Nikki, who is a superintendent at our Thunder Bay (Ontario) pulp and paper mill, received the award – part of FPAC’s Awards of Excellence program – for pursuing the development of forest bioproducts that will not only sustain our industry but also respond to customer demand for high-quality wood products made from renewable resources.
“We are a big industry that provides many career opportunities – both directly and indirectly. We are a sustainable industry that uses local resources to help sustain local economies. I would encourage anyone contemplating a career in forest products, women especially, to just jump in. We are an industry that is changing with the times, and we will need bright young minds for generations to come.”
