Fedrigoni has announced a leadership transition that will see Marco Nespolo step down as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board, effective October 6, 2026. Rolf Stangl has been appointed Executive Chairman from the same date.
Nespolo, who has led Fedrigoni for nearly eight years, will retain his equity investment in the Group and continue to serve as a Board member. During his tenure, he oversaw a period of international expansion through both organic growth and acquisitions, helping strengthen Fedrigoni’s position in specialty papers, pressure-sensitive materials and premium packaging.
Stangl brings more than two decades of leadership experience in the global packaging industry. He served as CEO of Swiss-listed packaging company SIG Group from 2008 to 2020, leading the business through several ownership transitions and a successful initial public offering.
More recently, Stangl served as a Senior Advisor to Apollo Global Management. He is also Non-Executive Chairman of Reynolds Consumer Products and a non-executive board member of The Family Office Co.
As Executive Chairman, Stangl will work with Fedrigoni’s Group CFO and the CEOs of its operating companies. According to Fedrigoni, the leadership structure is intended to support the continued execution of the Group’s strategy and accelerate profitable growth.
Fedrigoni said the change forms part of the ongoing evolution of its management and governance structure. The company did not announce a replacement CEO in its September 24 statement.
Founded in Verona in 1888, Fedrigoni produces specialty papers for luxury packaging and premium wine labels, self-adhesive materials, fine-art and drawing papers under the Fabriano brand, and RFID inlays. The company says it employs nearly 6,000 people across 28 countries and operates 73 production, slitting and distribution facilities.
