HEINZEL Holding GmbH has announced the appointment of Karl Achleitner as Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective September 2, 2024.
Achleitner, a seasoned industry leader, joins the top management team alongside CEO Sebastian Heinzel.
Achleitner's career spans over two decades, beginning as a paper technician in Austria before holding key roles in the UK, Australia, and most recently as Senior Vice President of Operations at Progroup Paper in Germany. His extensive experience in paper manufacturing and business administration positions him well to guide HEINZEL GROUP through its next phase of growth.
This leadership change follows the departure of Dr. Kurt Maier, who steps down as COO to assume a new role as President of the Styrian Industries, while continuing to serve on advisory boards for HEINZEL GROUP. Additionally, CFO Barbara Potisk-Eibensteiner will exit her role by the end of the year, with a search for her successor already underway.
Achleitner's appointment marks a strategic move for HEINZEL GROUP as it strengthens its leadership team in a competitive industry.
HEINZEL GROUP is a major producer of market pulp, packaging paper, and magazine paper in Central and Eastern Europe, with facilities in Austria and Estonia. It also operates trading companies—heinzelsales, Europapier, and Bunzl&Biach—that serve global markets.
