Blouin brings more than 20 years of experience in applied forest research, industry collaboration, and organizational leadership. Most recently, he served as Vice President at FPInnovations, where he worked closely with partners to advance innovation and support the competitiveness of Canada's forest sector.

"Industrial research and innovation have never been more important," Blouin said. "I am pleased to continue this work with our employees and partners to strengthen our sector competitiveness and support its transformation."

Planned leadership transition

FPInnovations thanked Renou for his leadership, noting that he helped position the organization as a more agile and responsive research partner focused on delivering greater value to the forest products industry.

During his tenure, FPInnovations strengthened its ability to respond to evolving industry needs while reinforcing its role as a trusted source of science and data for Canada's forest sector. The organization also increased its focus on maximizing the value of harvested wood and supporting innovation across the industry.

Blouin will now lead FPInnovations as it continues to develop research and technologies aimed at improving the competitiveness and long-term sustainability of Canada's forest products sector.
