Metsä Board has announced the appointment of Laura Remes as its new Senior Vice President of Business Development and member of the Corporate Management Team.
The company made this announcement in a stock exchange release on October 4, 2024.
Remes, who holds a Master's degree in Technology, will be joining Metsä Board from UPM, where she has held various positions in business development and management. The exact start date for her new role has not yet been specified, but she will report directly to CEO Mika Joukio once she assumes her position.
This appointment brings about a shift in responsibilities within the company. Markku Leskelä, who previously oversaw Metsä Board's development, will now focus on product development and sustainability once Remes takes on her new role.
With Remes' addition, Metsä Board's Corporate Management Team will consist of seven members, including CEO Mika Joukio, CFO Henri Sederholm, and other senior executives responsible for various aspects of the company's operations.
Metsä Board, part of the larger Metsä Group, is a leading producer of lightweight and high-quality folding boxboards, food service boards, and white kraftliners. The company prides itself on using renewable and recyclable resources from northern forests and aims to have completely fossil-free mills and raw materials by the end of 2030.
Listed on the Nasdaq Helsinki, Metsä Board reported sales of EUR 1.9 billion in 2023 and employs approximately 2,300 people. The parent company of Metsä Group, Metsäliitto Cooperative, is owned by more than 90,000 Finnish forest owners, highlighting the company's strong ties to sustainable forestry practices.
