Metsä Fibre has appointed Antti Eskola as the new Mill Manager of its Renko sawmill, effective November 1, 2024.
Eskola, who holds a Master’s degree in Engineering, brings significant experience from his previous role overseeing procurement and contract management for Metsä Group's Kemi bioproduct mill project.
In his new position, Eskola will report to Virva Juhola, Senior Vice President of Production for the Sawmill Business. His extensive background in strategic procurement within Metsä Group positions him well to lead the Renko facility.
Metsä Fibre is a prominent player in Finland's forest industry, producing not only pulp and sawn timber but also bioproducts such as biochemicals and bioenergy. The company emphasizes sustainability by offering products made from northern wood as alternatives to fossil materials.
In 2023, Metsä Fibre reported sales of EUR 2.5 billion and employs around 1,600 people. The broader Metsä Group achieved sales of EUR 6.1 billion, with its parent company, Metsäliitto Cooperative, owned by over 90,000 Finnish forest owners. Eskola's leadership is expected to drive further innovation and sustainability within the company.
