International Paper has appointed Tom Hamic as the new Executive Vice President and President of North American Packaging Solutions, a role created to strengthen the company’s leadership in the packaging industry.

Effective September 1, Hamic will take charge of the company’s Container and Containerboard operations across North America, reporting directly to CEO Andy Silvernail.

Hamic, a veteran of the company with over three decades of experience, has held numerous key positions since joining International Paper in 1991. His extensive background spans sales, marketing, finance, and strategic planning, with roles in both the United States and Europe. Hamic was named a company officer in 2009 and became a senior vice president in 2019. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of North American Container and Chief Commercial Officer.

“Tom is a strategic and effective leader with a long track record of success,” said Silvernail. “The Board and I are confident he will lead the team well as we work together to deliver excellence for our customers and profitable growth for our shareholders.”

This leadership shift comes as International Paper continues to focus on delivering sustainable packaging solutions amid growing demand and evolving market challenges.
