UPM has appointed Joonas Rauramo as Executive Vice President of UPM Energy, effective October 1, 2026. He will join the company’s Group Executive Team and report directly to President and CEO Massimo Reynaudo.

Rauramo joins UPM from Finnish technology company Coolbrook Oy, where he has served as Chief Executive Officer since 2022. Before becoming CEO, he held the role of Executive Vice President, Strategy & Industrial Partnerships. Earlier in his career, he spent more than a decade at Fortum, where he held several leadership positions in renewable energy development, including Vice President, Wind and Vice President, Solar & Wind Development.

“I'm delighted to welcome Joonas to UPM,” said Reynaudo. “He brings extensive experience in power generation and industrial decarbonisation, as well as deep expertise in energy markets, project financing, M&A and building global partnerships.”

Reynaudo added that these capabilities are increasingly important as demand for reliable, emission-free electricity continues to grow and energy systems undergo significant transformation.

Rauramo currently serves on the board of Korkia and is a member of the International Energy Agency’s Technology and Innovation Advisory Board. He holds a Master of Science in Technology from Helsinki University of Technology and a Master of Science in Economics from Aalto University School of Economics.

According to UPM, the appointment supports the continued development of its energy business as the company seeks to contribute to a more sustainable and resilient energy future.

UPM is a global material solutions company with businesses in renewable fibres, advanced materials, decarbonization solutions and communication papers. The company employs approximately 15,100 people worldwide and reported annual sales of approximately €9.7 billion. Its shares are listed on Nasdaq Helsinki.
