Cascades Answers is a regular Q&A featuring the questions you’ve asked the most. Its Cascades’ answer to what people actually want to know about tissue products and dispensers.

Today, we’re chatting with Isabelle Gendron, Product Manager for bath and facial products for Cascades PRO.

Q: Isabelle, we’re all trying to be more environmentally responsible, but a lot of people ask if we can somehow get some softness and comfort in our enviro toilet tissue? Do we really have to compromise when it comes to recycled toilet paper?

A: I’m so pleased to have the opportunity to address this issue! The answer is NO, since recycled products have really come a long way in the last couple of years. Take our Latte collection. This is actually a 2-ply tissue, so it’s super soft and absorbent.

Q: You’re saying we can have that soft quality in a recycled tissue?

A: Well, what most people may not know is that the overall quality of any recycled tissue is directly dependent on the type of paper – its physical properties, the type of equipment used, and more. The quality of paper of the Latte collection and the process we use to make it give our customers a softness and absorbency that you’d never think would be possible in a recycled tissue. Plus, Latte products are certified by Green Seal, meaning they have met the highest environmental standards in the industry.

Q: Isabelle, while we’re on the subject of the environment, is there anything else new in the sustainability world?

A: While it’s been around since the 90s, the concept of “rewilding” is gaining more and more significance, especially since Covid. Rewilding is about allowing nature to recover as its own form of conservation. The enforced reconfiguring of manufacturing due to the virus has, ironically, had a positive impact on the environment. What we’re seeing is a movement that has gone from “building back better” to “growing back better”. Sustainable tissues like Latte help drive this important shift.

Q: Thank you Isabelle. This has been very informative.

A: My pleasure!
