Q. Your presentation will discuss “Opportunities in paper packaging applications, can you give us a sneak peak of what delegates will hear?
Packaging made with paper is an exciting opportunity, it helps to amplify a positive man-made product perception. Paper is in some areas an interesting material for replacing plastics. The presentation will provide a sneak preview of packaging opportunities with paper.
Q. Why do you think it is important to have a discussion on this topic at SPEU?
The opportunities of paper in packaging applications are obvious but we as players in the emerging packaging paper industry need to tackle the topic of recyclability / pulpability standards to make sure that packaging paper really deserves the positive image in a circular world.
Q. As consumers push for more sustainable products, what are some of the innovative ways you think we’ll see paper companies become more sustainable?
Packaging can cost the earth depending… how it is made and where the resources go. Sustainable sources fibres, usage of renewable energies are the challenges for the conversion part of the industry, consumer engagement, paper collection and paper circularity are the opportunities for our industry to provide leadership in a world of finite resources.
Q. What are you most looking forward to hearing about at Specialty Papers EU 2019?
I am excited about the whole program. There is an enormous innovation momentum in the space of packaging papers. I am interested in the speakers presentations but as well in the discussions with participants in the networking breaks and during the evening program.
Q. Why do you feel it’s important for people to attend Specialty Papers EU 2019?
The paper industry is in a transition from graphic paper into papers for packaging applications. Investment start materializing. In 2019 we do see customer demands for more recyclable packaging solutions and technical capabilities on the producers’ side start to line up. Speciality Papers 2019 the best opportunity to get a feel for the dynamic in the industry.
