HZ Green Pulp is expanding its Dry Molded Fiber (DMF) offering through a partnership with Hotpack Global, aimed at accelerating the adoption of fiber-based packaging solutions in the foodservice sector.
The collaboration links HZ Green Pulp’s DMF production capabilities in Malaysia with Hotpack’s extensive food packaging portfolio and international distribution network. Hotpack, one of the largest food packaging suppliers in the Middle East, offers more than 4,000 products and serves customers in over 100 countries.
The partnership is structured through HZP Eco Packaging, a newly established joint venture between Malaysia-based HZ Corporation and Hotpack Global. The initiative is designed to expand the commercial reach of Dry Molded Fiber applications by integrating them into established foodservice product lines.
For HZ Green Pulp, PulPac’s first licensee in Malaysia, the agreement supports the rollout of its first Dry Molded Fiber application: a fiber-based coffee lid. By pairing the product with complementary items such as paper cups, the company aims to provide customers with practical, scalable alternatives to conventional plastic packaging.
“Dry Molded Fiber is an important part of our long-term foodservice packaging strategy,” said Dato’ Dr. Donald Yap, CEO of HZ Green Pulp. “With Hotpack’s portfolio and customer network, we see an opportunity to position our first application within a broader and more practical packaging offering for customers.”
Sanna Fager, Chief Commercial Officer at PulPac, said the partnership reflects growing confidence in Dry Molded Fiber technology and highlights how licensees are increasingly taking the lead in bringing fiber-based packaging solutions to market.
Developed and patented by PulPac, Dry Molded Fiber is an industrial fiber-forming technology designed for the high-speed production of rigid packaging. Compared with conventional molded fiber processes, it uses minimal water and significantly less energy, enabling more resource-efficient manufacturing at scale.
As foodservice brands seek alternatives to plastic packaging, Dry Molded Fiber is gaining traction as a scalable solution combining environmental benefits with commercial viability.
HZ Green Pulp, part of Malaysia-based HZ Corporation, specializes in molded fiber packaging solutions for global markets. The company is PulPac’s first licensee in Malaysia and produces sustainable packaging products that comply with major international food safety and regulatory standards, including GFSI, U.S. FDA and EU requirements.
PulPac is a Sweden-based technology company and the inventor of Dry Molded Fiber, a patented manufacturing process for producing rigid fiber packaging with minimal water and significantly lower energy consumption than conventional molded fiber technologies. Through a global licensing model, PulPac works with packaging producers and brand owners to accelerate the transition from single-use plastics to scalable fiber-based alternatives.
