Mondi has showcased three case studies that underline how packaging can support brand positioning, sustainability goals and logistics efficiency across very different markets.

In the premium glassware segment, Mondi worked with Riedel Glas on packaging for the All American Bourbon glass series. The solution combined brown kraftliner with white digital printing, allowing the packaging to deliver strong shelf impact while still reflecting the authenticity and premium positioning of the product.

The digital printing approach was designed to handle fine lines, small fonts and QR codes with precision on a brown substrate. Mondi said the result was fully recyclable sales packaging that supports brand storytelling, traceability and a more distinctive presence at the point of sale.

A second case study focused on Dreco, which wanted to redesign powder detergent packaging to increase circularity without losing moisture protection or shelf appeal. Working with Mondi, the company developed a re/loop PillowBag structure containing 50% post-consumer recycled content.

The new packaging was designed to maintain product integrity while reducing virgin plastic use and improving compatibility with mechanical recycling streams. Mondi said the solution also supports future regulatory readiness in the European market, where recycled-content requirements are expected to become more important under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.

The third example came from Ovoko, an online marketplace for car parts that needed a safer and more cost-efficient way to ship oversized automotive bumpers. Mondi adapted a heavy-duty packaging concept to fit the exact geometry of the product, reducing empty space and material use.

The result was a packaging format that improved product protection while cutting unit costs by up to 42%. Mondi said the solution also simplified packing operations and was validated through real-life shipping tests before being rolled out.

Together, the three projects show Mondi’s strategy of tailoring packaging to specific product and market needs. Whether the objective is premium presentation, higher recycled content or lower logistics costs, the common thread is packaging designed to balance performance, sustainability and efficiency.
