The most notable achievement of this partnership is a high-barrier packaging material that combines excellent oxygen and moisture vapor barriers with heat-sealability. This groundbreaking solution is particularly suitable for demanding products such as chocolate and coffee. Utilizing UPM Solide™ Lucent barrier base papers and Michelman's advanced water-based barrier coatings, the new concept achieves unprecedented barrier properties without relying on complex, multi-layer structures or paper-plastic laminates.
In addition to the high-barrier solution, the collaboration has produced two other concepts:
- A packaging material with enhanced water vapor and grease barrier properties, ideal for inner liners.
- A heat-sealable solution with improved barrier properties, perfectly suited for frozen foods.
