Richmond's Catalyst Paper wins decision in cross-border trade dispute

Richmond-headquartered Catalyst Paper Corp. Thursday won its case in a trade dispute with U.S. paper-producers over alleged subsidies in the production of a specialty paper.

The U.S. Department of Commerce ruled that any subsidy that Catalyst received in its production of supercalendered paper, a glossy paper stock used in magazines and ad inserts, was minimal, which excludes the company from the trade action that imposed duties of up to 19 per cent on shipments to the U.S.
