Arctic Paper has partnered with ByggPartner, part of ByggPartnerGruppen, to undertake a significant project at the Grycksbo mill near Falun, Sweden.

The collaboration involves upgrading the mill's biofuel plant and constructing a new pellet factory, marking a key step toward Arctic Paper’s goal of climate-neutral production.

The biofuel boiler at the Grycksbo mill will be converted to use sawdust and wood chips, enabling the facility to produce 50,000 tons of wood pellets annually from sawmill residues. Alongside electricity and steam generation, the new facility will supply sustainable biofuel to the market.

ByggPartner has commenced work on the renovation and expansion of the mill, with the construction phase set to be completed by September 2025. Machine installations are expected to extend through the end of the year, with the plant scheduled for commissioning in December 2025.

“This project underscores Arctic Paper's commitment to sustainable energy and demonstrates the potential for industries to transition to greener energy models,” said Johan Karlsson, Vice President of ByggPartner.

The project, valued at approximately SEK 90 million, is a significant investment in green energy and aligns with Arctic Paper’s ambition to reduce fossil carbon dioxide emissions.
