A two-part webinar series presented jointly by BioMass Canada Cluster and UK’s Supergen Bioenergy Hub
Biomass and bioenergy play a critical role in advancing sustainable energy solutions for both Canada and the UK, with an emphasis on fostering innovation and leadership among the next generation of researchers. These renewable energy sources are not only key to reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change, but they also open up vast opportunities for economic growth and green job creation.
For emerging professionals—master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral students—biomass and bioenergy research offers a unique platform to drive innovation while contributing to the global energy transition. As the bioeconomy grows, the demand for specialized skills, advanced research, and cross-border collaboration between Canada and the UK is vital. These students are at the forefront of developing new technologies, improving biomass efficiency, and creating sustainable practices that can be applied across industries.
The partnerships between academia, industry, and governments in both countries ensure that young researchers are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to succeed. By investing in talent and research today, Canada and the UK are preparing to lead the world in bioenergy innovation, ultimately contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.

About the Biomass Canada Cluster
Biomass Canada Cluster’s mandate is to mobilize Canada’s agricultural biomass resources for bioenergy and bioproducts production by de-risking and commoditizing agricultural biomass in all regions of Canada, while mitigating and adapting to a changing climate. Managed by BioFuelNet Canada Network, the Cluster is funded by the Government of Canada under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership through Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s (AAFC) AgriScience program, with additional support from industry partners.
