Company profile

Huhtamaki is celebrating the successful integration of its new egg packaging facility in Zellwood, Florida, marking 100 days since acquiring Zellwin Farms on April 23, 2025.

The move strengthens Huhtamaki’s presence in the molded fiber segment, particularly in the production of egg cartons and egg flats for the Southeastern U.S. market.

Since the acquisition, the transition has focused on aligning operations, safety practices, and company culture. “We found a nimble, engaged, and innovative workforce in Zellwood,” said Larissa Larrabee, Huhtamaki Controller and leader of the transition team. “We have already learned a lot from their ability to solve problems and innovate.”

Zellwin Farms, now operating as Huhtamaki Zellwood, has been serving egg producers in the region for over 20 years. The acquisition complements Huhtamaki’s broader growth strategy in molded fiber packaging, following other recent expansions. “From the start, it was clear we shared a common language and approach to business,” said Marc Doiron, Head of Molded Fiber Operations at Huhtamaki. “Together, we are moving from good to great.”

Employee integration has been a central focus, with Huhtamaki providing support across human resources, finance, IT, and operations. Christina Stewart, a 10-year Zellwood employee and co-leader of the transition, noted the positive impact of this support in easing employees’ concerns and adapting to new systems.

Safety has been a key priority, with Huhtamaki implementing new localized cooling units, enhanced loading dock procedures, improved access to PPE, and ongoing risk mitigation efforts. “Safety is not just a slogan for us,” Doiron emphasized. “It’s about real actions and a culture of care.”

Looking ahead, the Zellwood facility will benefit from Huhtamaki’s global resources while contributing its deep experience in egg packaging—a core element of Huhtamaki’s molded fiber growth strategy. The first 100 days have laid the groundwork for long-term success built on collaboration, safety, and shared expertise.
