Atlantic Packaging has launched New Earth Ventures (NEV), a new investment and innovation division focused on emerging packaging and supply chain technologies.
The announcement was made by Wes Carter, president of Atlantic Packaging and general partner of NEV. The new venture platform will invest in companies developing next-generation packaging materials, automation technologies and artificial intelligence tools for logistics and supply chain operations.
According to Atlantic Packaging, NEV will target a combined addressable market exceeding $500 billion across alternative packaging materials, automation technologies and AI-driven supply chain tools.
NEV’s investment strategy is built around three main areas: packaging intelligence, supply chain optimization and next-generation materials. The initiative aims to support companies using artificial intelligence, machine learning and automation technologies to reduce costs, improve operational efficiency and replace certain single-use packaging formats.
Atlantic Packaging said it plans to leverage its industrial network, operational infrastructure and customer relationships to help accelerate the growth of emerging companies specializing in advanced supply chain technologies.
NEV will be led by Matt Saunders, whose background includes alternative materials, supply chain optimization and investments tied to the U.S. energy transition sector.
The initiative is also receiving strategic backing from Minderoo Foundation and Hula Fund.
Atlantic Packaging also highlighted several existing industry collaborations, including with Specright, which specializes in specification data management, Forest, an artificial intelligence platform focused on packaging intelligence and sourcing, and Sway, which develops seaweed-based packaging materials intended to replace certain plastics.
The initiative reflects growing interest across the packaging sector in automation, alternative materials and digital tools aimed at improving supply chain resilience and reducing packaging-related environmental impacts.
Atlantic Packaging is a North American packaging solutions provider serving the food, pharmaceutical, industrial and e-commerce sectors. The company also operates a packaging automation and technology development center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
