Georgia-Pacific Recycling’s hubbIT Recognized for Innovation

Industry News

Georgia-Pacific Recycling’s online platform, hubbIT, has been named a finalist in Georgia State University’s 2025 Marketing Awards for Excellence in Innovation.

This recognition highlights the platform’s role in expanding access to the recycling marketplace for smaller-volume suppliers.

Launched in June 2023, hubbIT provides businesses with upfront pricing on over 50 grades of recyclable paper, plastic, and metal. It also offers access to Georgia-Pacific Recycling’s extensive network, logistics support, and reliable payments—ensuring that recyclable materials are managed sustainably, even when market values drop.

“We are honored to be recognized for our efforts to open the recycling marketplace to businesses that face barriers to participation,” said Blake Gordon, general manager of digital trading. “hubbIT has the potential to create new profit centers, improve U.S. recycling rates, and divert more waste from landfills.”

In its first 18 months, hubbIT suppliers earned over $1 million, and the platform helped prevent 14 million pounds of recyclables from reaching landfills. The recognition was announced at the 2025 Future of Marketing Conference in Atlanta, a key event featuring top marketing professionals from Georgia’s leading companies.

As a division of Georgia-Pacific, Georgia-Pacific Recycling has been a leader in the recycling industry for over 50 years, diverting more than five million tons of recyclable materials annually. This latest recognition underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
