Ence has restarted operations at its Pontevedra biofactory in Spain following the successful completion of its annual maintenance shutdown in September.

The company says the restart marks another step toward enhancing operational reliability and reinforcing its environmental and energy performance goals.

During the maintenance period, around 1,500 workers from nearly 100 partner companies joined Ence’s regular staff, generating a notable boost for the regional economy. The work focused on equipment maintenance, energy optimization, and projects aimed at improving safety and environmental efficiency.

With production now back to normal, Ence reaffirms the Pontevedra biofactory’s role as a cornerstone of sustainable pulp production and a driver of local development. The site continues to hold several major environmental recognitions, including the Nordic Swan eco-label, AENOR’s Zero Waste certification, and the European Commission’s Gold Medal for environmental improvement.
