Stora Enso has announced the executive management team for the new forest asset company it plans to spin off, part of a broader restructuring of its Swedish forest holdings.
The demerger is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027.
The company had previously confirmed that Tuomas Hallenberg would lead the new entity as President and CEO. Hallenberg, formerly Executive Vice President of Stora Enso’s Forest business area, assumed the role in January 2026.
Stora Enso has now completed the leadership team, naming four executives who will lead the operations of the planned forest company.
The executive management team will consist of:
- Tuomas Hallenberg, President and CEO
- Martin Ros, Chief Financial Officer
- Johan Djurberg, Head of Forestry
- Pontus Selderman, General Counsel
Hallenberg brings extensive experience in forest sector leadership. Before joining Stora Enso’s executive leadership team, he held senior roles at Metsähallitus, Finland’s state-owned forestry organisation, and at UPM. He holds a Master of Science in Forestry from the University of Joensuu.
Martin Ros has held several leadership roles within Stora Enso and most recently served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Finance in the company’s Biomaterials division. He studied forestry at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and business administration at Umeå University.
Johan Djurberg will join the new company no later than June 2026. He currently serves as Vice President of Wood Supply at Billerud and previously worked at Stora Enso in several senior roles related to wood supply, forestry operations and supply chain management. He holds a Master of Science degree from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
Pontus Selderman currently serves as Senior Vice President of Forest Legal and ESG Regulatory at Stora Enso. His experience includes business law, compliance, intellectual property and regulatory matters. He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from Uppsala University.
The new company is part of Stora Enso’s strategic review of its Swedish forest assets, initiated in 2025. If completed, the transaction would create what the company describes as the largest listed pure-play forest company in Europe.
The new entity will focus on forest management and wood supply operations, while Stora Enso continues to concentrate on renewable materials and fibre-based packaging.
Stora Enso is a global provider of renewable materials with a strong focus on fibre-based packaging, biomaterials and wood products. The company develops solutions designed to replace fossil-based materials with renewable alternatives. Headquartered in Helsinki, Stora Enso employs about 19,000 people and reported sales of EUR 9.3 billion in 2025.
