Sonoco Products Company will increase core board and paperboard prices in Europe by €60 per metric ton, effective April 7, 2025.
The price hike is due to a shortage of Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) and high energy costs, according to Adam Wood, VP of Industrial Paper Products Europe.
Wood cited low OCC generation and export-driven supply constraints, predicting further price increases. Rising energy costs, with limited relief expected, also contribute to the decision. Sonoco, a global packaging leader, is passing on these costs to customers.
