Rottneros, the Swedish market pulp producer, has announced a reduction in its Group Management team from ten to seven positions as part of an ongoing downsizing initiative.

This restructuring follows a profit warning issued on March 21, 2025, and a notice of layoffs affecting 47 employees on March 25, 2025.

Key management changes include Nils Hauri, currently Director of Innovation and Strategic Projects, becoming Managing Director of Rottneros Mill with added responsibility for innovation. Ida Mörtsell, HR and Communications Director and acting Managing Director of Vallvik Mill, will now permanently lead Vallvik Mill while continuing to oversee strategic HR issues.

Departing the company are Sofia Hidén, the current Managing Director of Rottneros Mill, and Anders Persson, Director of Strategic Development. CEO Lennart Eberleh expressed regret over losing two experienced leaders but emphasized the necessity of the changes.

The downsizing comes amid rising raw material and energy costs, weakening global demand for mechanical pulp, and a challenging market environment. Despite these hurdles, Rottneros remains optimistic about its long-term prospects as it continues to focus on innovation and sustainability in its operations.

Rottneros is an independent producer of market pulp with operations in Sweden, Latvia, and beyond. The Group employs approximately 285 people and has an annual turnover of around 2.7 billion SEK.
