Utipulp Reports 2.4% Rise in European Market Pulp Consumption

Market analysis

Founded in 1979, Utipulp is the European Association representing the "Group of European Market Pulp Users".

It functions as the continent’s barometer for pulp consumption, translating shipment statistics into signals of industrial pulse.

Its latest report, published in August, reveals that hardwood pulp consumption rose by 4.8% versus the same month in 2024. Softwood pulp slipped 8.6%, underscoring the sensitivity of long-fiber grades to production slowdowns and substitution trends.

Yet, the net result remains encouraging — total market pulp consumption reached 700,794 tons, a 2.4% increase year over year.
