Despite a challenging year, we have continued our focus on sustainability performance, operating safely, and producing high-quality pulp and paper products for customers worldwide”.

Key Achievements in 2024

The report outlines several notable accomplishments:

Sustainable Forest Management: All Canfor-managed forests are certified under SFI® or FSC® Forest Management Standards, with 100% of sourced fiber in North American operations managed to the SFI Fibre Sourcing Standard. Canfor Pulp also holds PEFC and FSC Chain of Custody certifications.

Safety and Workforce Development: The establishment of a global safety forum and new initiatives aimed at improving workplace safety were complemented by expanded employee development programs to enhance leadership skills.

Community Investments: Over $2 million was donated through the "Good Things Come From Trees" program, supporting hurricane disaster relief, education scholarships for future forest sector workers, and sports sponsorships in Sweden.

Climate Goals: The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved Canfor’s near-term and long-term emissions reduction targets in 2024. Nearly 80% of the company’s energy use came from renewable sources as it progresses toward its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

A Commitment to Sustainability
