Metsä Board has introduced MetsäBoard Pro FBB Go, a new folding boxboard grade designed for demanding food and pharmaceutical packaging, alongside a sheet delivery service aimed at improving supply speed and predictability across Europe.

The new concept combines the board grade with a logistics solution intended to help brand owners and converters respond more quickly to fluctuating demand while maintaining stable production.

According to Maarten Florizoone, Vice President of Sales Europe at Metsä Board, the initiative addresses the need for reliability and flexibility in fast-moving packaging markets.

“Our customers operate in environments where demand can shift quickly. With MetsäBoard Pro FBB Go and our new service concept, we are making production smoother, planning more predictable and supply chains more resilient,” Florizoone said.

The board grade is designed to deliver consistent performance in regulated packaging segments such as food and pharmaceuticals. It is OBA-free and features hard sizing, which supports reliable performance in frozen packaging applications.

Metsä Board also says the lightweight structure of the grade can help reduce the carbon footprint of packaging, supported by the high share of fossil-free energy used at the Husum mill in Sweden, where the board is produced.

Sheets are cut to customer specifications at Metsä Board’s Sheeting & Distribution Hub in the Netherlands, allowing converters to receive custom formats with short lead times.

The company’s FastTrack Service delivers folding boxboard sheets within three weeks across Europe, while an ExpressTrack Service offers delivery in less than ten days for urgent orders. The services are intended to help converters manage volatile supply chains while limiting inventory requirements.

Metsä Board is a European producer of lightweight folding boxboards, foodservice boards and white kraftliners. The company uses fresh wood fibres sourced from Northern European forests and aims to eliminate fossil energy from its production by 2030. In 2025, Metsä Board reported sales of €1.8 billion and employed about 1,900 people. It is part of Metsä Group, whose parent company Metsäliitto Cooperative is owned by approximately 90,000 Finnish forest owners.
