Stora Enso has introduced Nova F, a high-purity unbleached kraft pulp produced at its Enocell mill in Finland, used in fiber cement boards and filtration materials.

Previously marketed as Nova FC, the grade has long been used in construction to manufacture fiber cement boards. The new name reflects the pulp’s use in both construction and filtration, two applications that require stable fiber structure and consistent performance.

“The rename makes the versatility clear,” said Eero Ollila, Product Director at Stora Enso. “This grade was always capable of more than one thing; it’s designed for demanding end uses in construction and filtration.”

Nova F is part of Stora Enso’s Nova family of unbleached, low-kappa, high-purity kraft pulps, alongside Nova, designed for applications such as food packaging, tissue and specialty papers, and Nova E, developed for electrical insulation.

According to the company, Nova F contains fibers longer than 2.3 mm, providing the strength required for fiber cement boards while also supporting the porous structure needed in filtration media.

Compared with bleached kraft pulp, Stora Enso says Nova F has a carbon footprint about 30% lower. Produced from certified renewable wood in Finland, the pulp is fully traceable and approved for food-contact applications.

Stora Enso is a leading provider of renewable products in packaging, biomaterials, and wooden construction. The company develops fiber-based materials designed to replace fossil-based alternatives and support the transition to a circular bioeconomy. Stora Enso is also one of the world’s largest private forest owners. The group employs approximately 20,000 people and operates production facilities in Europe and beyond. Shares are listed on the Nasdaq Helsinki and Nasdaq Stockholm exchanges.
