International Paper has acquired a box plant in Dover, Delaware, from Delmarva Corrugated Packaging, expanding its corrugated packaging footprint on the U.S. East Coast.

The acquisition increases International Paper’s converting capacity in a growing regional market and adds an established customer base to its Packaging Solutions North America business. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“This acquisition strengthens our footprint in the region and supports our long-term growth strategy,” said Tom Hamic, Executive Vice President and President, Packaging Solutions North America at International Paper.

He said the Dover facility’s location and customer relationships would help improve service speed and reliability for regional customers.

Delmarva Corrugated Packaging President and CEO Dennis D. Mehiel said the transaction positions the Dover operation for continued development under International Paper’s ownership.

The move aligns with International Paper’s broader strategy to strengthen its corrugated packaging operations across North America.
