Sonoco will increase uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) prices by $70 per ton in the U.S. and Canada, effective April 10, 2025. This move is due to rising input costs and tight market conditions.

The company will also raise converted paperboard product prices by at least 8% on April 15, 2025. "Continued inflation in input costs and tightening market conditions" necessitate these increases, said John Florence, Vice President and General Manager, Industrial Paper Packaging North America.

Sonoco is also shifting to value-based pricing, moving away from old corrugated container price mechanisms. The company, a global packaging leader, aims to reflect current market value and ensure operational sustainability.

Sonoco is a global leader in high-value sustainable packaging that serves some of the world’s best-known brands. Sonoco has approximately 28,000 employees working in more than 300 operations around the world.
