Koehler Paper has received a 2025 PAP’AWARD in the Circular Economy category for its innovative Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure packaging paper.
The award was presented during La Nuit du Papier, a major event in France’s paper and packaging industry, held in Paris this April.
The winning application featured French walnut cooperative Coopenoix, which used Koehler’s flexible packaging paper to launch a 500 g organic walnut bag. In a first for the brand, the bag is made entirely of paper and features a linen mesh window, replacing conventional plastic-based windows while maintaining product visibility. French converter Multisac handled the processing of the bag.
Like other products in the NexPlus® line, Seal Pure is heat-sealable and designed for compatibility with standard packaging machinery. It combines high strength and recyclability, making it suitable for both primary and secondary packaging where no barrier properties are required.
“This award honors the commitment to innovation and the development of efficient and sustainable paper solutions for which Koehler Paper is known,” said Bettina Bastien, Business Development / Brand Owner Manager for Flexible Packaging at Koehler Paper. She emphasized that the material’s perforation features and mesh integration were easily handled in standard production workflows.
The product’s design relies on renewable raw materials and supports easy recycling, contributing to a significantly smaller carbon footprint than plastic alternatives. Its compatibility with existing recycling streams makes it a strong candidate for circular economy strategies in both food and cosmetic sectors.
La Nuit du Papier is one of the premier events in the French paper and packaging industry. The PAP’AWARDS recognize outstanding achievements in sustainable innovation, with categories ranging from printing and processing to circular economy initiatives.
This win reinforces Koehler Paper’s reputation as a leader in sustainable packaging solutions across Europe and beyond.
