Lecta has achieved a new milestone in sustainable innovation with its EraCup Natural food service board earning the flustix “Less Plastics Product” certification — one of the most rigorous European standards for verifying reduced plastic content.

The certification confirms that EraCup Natural’s composition is at least 99.25% plastic-free, the highest level awarded under the flustix framework. Tests conducted by an accredited laboratory validated the board’s optimized composition, further reinforcing Lecta’s commitment to developing environmentally responsible packaging materials.

Manufactured as an SBB (Solid Bleached Board) from responsibly sourced and certified pulp, EraCup Natural features a smooth, natural surface suitable for flexographic and offset printing. Its inner side, coated with an aqueous dispersion, delivers strong heat-sealing resistance and reliable performance during conversion.

“The accreditation confirms EraCup Natural as a benchmark board for food service applications,” said Armin Van Overbeek, Specialities Commercial Director at Lecta. “It reflects our ongoing commitment to developing safe, regulation-compliant, and recyclable solutions that enable brand owners to meet sustainability goals.”

The flustix label quantitatively measures plastic content according to international standards and traceability criteria. In combination with other certifications — including DIN CERTCO for industrial and home compostability and Aticelca Level A recyclability — EraCup Natural stands among the most advanced fiber-based solutions for single-use cups and food service packaging.

This recognition marks another step forward in Lecta’s strategy to reduce non-renewable materials and promote circular, lower-impact alternatives. The EraCup range embodies Lecta’s philosophy of “A New Era of Responsibility,” advancing sustainable innovation across the paper packaging sector.

Lecta is a leading European manufacturer of specialty papers for labels, flexible packaging, and graphic applications. The company develops renewable, recyclable materials that promote a circular economy and help customers reduce environmental impact.
