Mondi has finalized its acquisition of Schumacher Packaging’s Western Europe operations, adding over 1 billion square meters of packaging capacity.
This move enhances Mondi’s product portfolio, particularly with solid board solutions tailored for eCommerce and FMCG sectors, while strengthening its footprint across Western Europe.
The acquisition includes seven corrugated converting plants, two solid board mills, and two state-of-the-art mega box plants in Ebersdorf and Greven, Germany. These facilities are expected to bolster Mondi’s ability to meet growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions. Customers from Schumacher Packaging will now gain access to Mondi’s extensive product offerings, sustainability credentials, and reliable delivery systems.
Andrew King, Mondi Group CEO, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition: “This significantly strengthens our corrugated packaging business and creates exciting opportunities to expand our offerings as customers transition toward more sustainable solutions.”
Markus Gärtner, CEO of Corrugated Packaging at Mondi, highlighted the benefits of combining expertise from both companies to drive innovation and operational efficiency. The integration aims to reduce waste, cut carbon emissions, and optimize logistics.
This acquisition aligns with Mondi’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, positioning the company as a stronger player in the global packaging market.
