Mondi has introduced a new brand identity for Mondi Rotatrim, one of South Africa’s most recognized premium office paper brands.
The rebranding emphasizes local design, improved product performance, and the social and environmental impact embedded in the brand’s supply chain.
Produced in Merebank, Durban, Rotatrim is known for its consistent quality and performance, with a high whiteness level of 160 CIE. Its latest packaging design draws inspiration from African textures and patterns, reflecting Mondi’s commitment to both local sourcing and purpose-led growth.
Alongside visual updates, the rebrand includes a technical enhancement: increased calliper for better stiffness and performance across various printing applications. Mondi affirms the product continues to meet both local and international quality standards.
Rotatrim is now Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze, underscoring its alignment with global benchmarks in material health, climate protection, water stewardship, and social fairness. The brand also maintains FSC™ certification and Level 1 BBBEE contributor status.
Mondi’s sustainability efforts extend beyond manufacturing. In partnership with WWF South Africa, Mondi supports water stewardship and climate resilience projects, recently renewing a long-standing collaboration with a €680,000 commitment through 2027.
At the core of Rotatrim’s supply chain is Mondi Zimele, the company’s enterprise development arm that supports small-scale timber growers, particularly in rural KwaZulu-Natal. Since its inception in 2007, Mondi Zimele has assisted over 3,800 growers, offering access to seedlings, training, and FSC certification.
In 2024, these growers supplied approximately 190,000 tonnes of timber, accounting for 10% of Mondi South Africa’s wood requirements. Of that, 64,000 tonnes were FSC-certified.
