Mondi has introduced Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible, a new kraft paper designed to deliver both strength and smoothness for demanding packaging applications.
The innovation combines extensibility, high puncture resistance and a calendered surface that ensures reliable converting and high-quality print and coating performance.
Positioned between traditional sack kraft and machine-finished kraft grades, the paper was developed over three years by Mondi’s kraft paper specialists. It is engineered to withstand sharp-edged and heavy items such as toys, spare parts, dry food and building materials, while maintaining excellent surface properties for print and coating.
The material is made from responsibly sourced fresh fibres, with PEFC or FSC® chain of custody certification available. It has been verified recyclable in EU paper recycling streams using the CEPI 4EG test method. The paper runs efficiently on existing converting and filling lines, making it suitable for industrial and consumer packaging solutions.
According to Mondi, Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible fills a gap in the market by offering converters a recyclable base paper that combines runnability and strength with coating-friendly smoothness. It is also well suited as a base for barrier papers, where surface stability is essential for consistent coating.
“This paper is the result of close collaboration between technical sales, R&D and product development – a strong team effort to solve our customers’ technical and sustainability challenges,” said Sabrina Klösch, Technical Sales Service at Mondi.
