Suzano has appointed Carlos Aníbal Fernandes de Almeida Júnior to lead its pulp industrial operations following Aires Galhardo’s decision to leave the company.
The Brazilian pulp and paper producer announced on August 4 that Galhardo, its Executive Vice President of Pulp Industrial Operations, Engineering and Energy, had submitted a request to step down. His departure will take effect on August 28, 2026.
Suzano’s board of directors has approved the appointment of Carlos Aníbal Fernandes de Almeida Júnior to succeed him as Executive Vice President of Pulp Industrial Operations, Engineering and Energy.
In addition to his new responsibilities, Carlos Aníbal will oversee Supply and Certification Strategy and will lead FuturaGene, Suzano’s biotechnology subsidiary.
Carlos Aníbal has worked at Suzano for more than 23 years and has held leadership roles across several key areas of the company. His previous responsibilities have included the pulp and paper business units as well as forestry operations, giving him broad experience across Suzano’s integrated business.
Galhardo is leaving after more than 21 years with the company, during which he served in several positions considered important to Suzano’s operations. The company did not provide a reason for his departure. In its market announcement, the board thanked him for his contributions throughout his tenure.
The leadership transition consolidates responsibility for pulp operations, engineering, energy, supply, certification strategy and FuturaGene under a longtime Suzano executive.
Suzano is a Brazilian multinational and the world’s largest pulp producer. It manufactures eucalyptus-based pulp, paper, packaging and tissue products sold in more than 100 countries.
