Greif, a global leader in industrial packaging solutions, has introduced EnviroRAP™, a groundbreaking 100% recycled paperboard designed specifically for the food industry.

This new product represents a significant advancement in sustainable packaging, offering a viable alternative to traditional plastic-coated options.

EnviroRAP boasts exceptional resistance to oil and grease, making it suitable for packaging both aqueous and fatty foods. The product's water-based, recyclable, and repulpable coating ensures it can be easily recycled, further reducing its environmental impact and supporting sustainability efforts across the food packaging sector.

One of the key innovations of EnviroRAP is its inline coating application process. This eliminates the need for separate offline coating, reducing both costs and carbon emissions associated with transporting materials to another location. The product's versatility is enhanced by its extended caliper range of .012 inches to .030 inches, allowing it to meet a wide variety of packaging needs in the food industry.

Vince Fields, Product Development Manager at Greif, expressed enthusiasm about the launch: "EnviroRAP is a significant step forward in paper packaging. Customers in the food industry, who are committed to finding sustainable alternatives to plastic, have welcomed this innovation. It not only supports their environmental goals but also responds to growing consumer demand for eco-friendly packaging."

Fields added that EnviroRAP offers a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to traditional poly-coated paperboard, which can be more challenging to recycle due to its plastic coating.

Greif plans to debut EnviroRAP at Pack EXPO International in Chicago, IL, from November 3-6, showcasing the product at booth W-22093.

It's worth noting that Greif's paper packaging follows a robust circular economy supply chain. The company prides itself on being a leading recycler in North America, with its paper business operating as a net-positive recycler.
