Mondi has successfully launched operations at its new €400 million paper machine at the Štětí mill, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable packaging and advancing its commitment to a circular economy.
Operational since December 2024, the state-of-the-art machine has already demonstrated strong performance in early production, delivering paper with high strength, excellent runnability, and consistent quality. This major investment allows Mondi to better serve growing global demand for paper-based flexible packaging and strengthens the company’s vertically integrated Paper Bags business.
“We are delighted to have started production on this paper machine,” said Roman Senecky, COO Kraft Paper at Mondi. “The project team did a fantastic job, delivering on time and on budget. The quality of the paper is exceptional, and we are impressed with how quickly we’ve met our customers’ expectations.”
The new machine also improves production efficiency across Mondi’s kraft paper portfolio and supports the group’s goal to provide a full range of high-performance paper grades—from high strength to high porosity—used in applications such as construction and industrial bags.
The project is part of Mondi’s Action Plan 2030, which aims to ensure all packaging solutions are reusable, recyclable, or compostable, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Mondi is a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, with operations in over 30 countries. The company focuses on innovative, circular solutions and aims to make all its products reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2030.
