In a move to advance sustainable packaging, Mondi, a global leader in paper and packaging solutions, has partnered with Polish paper bag converter Dobis to redefine the efficiency and environmental impact of paper shopping bags.
This collaboration focuses on reducing material usage and integrating recycled content while maintaining the high quality and strength demanded by the fashion, fast food, and retail sectors.
Dobis has leveraged Mondi’s expertise in paper grades to create lighter-weight shopping bags without compromising on performance. The innovative approach not only reduces material consumption but also improves print quality, requiring less ink and further enhancing the bags' environmental profile.
“Over the past three years, Dobis has relied on Mondi’s broad portfolio of paper products, ranging from 100% fresh fibre to papers with recycled content,” said Gerhard Pachler, Regional Sales Director of Speciality Kraft Paper at Mondi. “This collaboration enabled extensive testing to identify ideal paper solutions for different applications, ensuring Dobis’s high standards of quality and efficiency.”
Advanced Solutions for Diverse Needs
Central to the partnership’s success is Mondi’s Eco/Vantage range, tailored to meet varying industry requirements:
-
Eco/Vantage Light Fashion: Made from 100% recycled fibres, this grade is designed for fashion and gift bags.
-
Eco/Vantage Kraft Pro: Comprising 20% recycled content and certified for food safety, it’s ideal for fast food and grocery applications.
-
Eco/Vantage Kraft Classic: With 50% recycled content, it strikes a balance between strength and printability, serving both food and fashion packaging needs.
Dobis has integrated these solutions seamlessly into its production lines, achieving high-speed outputs while reducing glue and ink consumption. “By using Mondi’s Eco/Vantage paper with water-based inks, we’ve minimized costs and resource use, aligning perfectly with our sustainability objectives,” said Arkadiusz Starzyński, Sales Director at Dobis.
