Sappi Europe has announced a €50 per tonne price increase across its Woodfree Coated (WFC) sheets portfolio, effective 16 March 2026.
The company said the adjustment follows a prolonged period of price erosion in the segment, driven by weak demand and heightened competitive pressure.
According to Sappi Europe, recent market conditions have pushed selling prices to levels that no longer reflect the structural cost base of producing Woodfree Coated papers. The company described the increase as a first step toward restoring sustainable pricing levels necessary to support long-term supply reliability.
Sappi Europe emphasized that maintaining consistent service and dependable product availability requires financially viable operations. Should current cost pressures persist, the company indicated that additional price adjustments may be required to safeguard supply stability and service quality.
As a strategic supplier to printers, publishers, merchants, and converters, Sappi Europe said the price increase will help underpin ongoing investments in production assets, product development, and operational reliability across its WFC portfolio. Customers will be contacted directly by the company’s sales organization to discuss implementation details.
Sappi Europe operates as part of Sappi, a global producer of woodfibre-based materials serving graphic papers, packaging, specialty applications, and pulp markets worldwide.
