Stora Enso has launched Performa Lumi, a new GC1* folding boxboard optimized for premium visual performance and material efficiency in beauty, personal care, and healthcare packaging.

The grade is produced on the company’s new BM6 packaging board line in Oulu, Finland.

Performa Lumi is a double-coated CTMP board featuring high whiteness, smooth printability, and a light-coated reverse, supporting consistent brand expression across a range of applications. The new grade expands Stora Enso’s Performa portfolio alongside Performa Nova, offering brand owners an additional option for everyday premium packaging formats.

The board is manufactured using Stora Enso’s proprietary FiberLight Tec™ technology, which enables strong yet lightweight structures across grammages ranging from 205 to 310 gsm. The approach allows converters and brand owners to optimize material use while maintaining stiffness, shelf appeal, and robustness during printing and converting.

“It provides one reliable solution across multiple end-uses without unnecessary complexity,” said Kati Ekman, Head of Product Line FBB at Stora Enso.

Performa Lumi is suitable for direct food contact and complies with industry standards for odour and taste neutrality. Its performance characteristics support a wide range of packaging formats while aligning with the growing demand for efficient, fibre-based solutions.

With the introduction of Performa Lumi, Stora Enso continues to invest in renewable materials through its Oulu operations, reinforcing its position as a leading European supplier of folding boxboard for premium consumer goods and supporting the transition toward circular packaging solutions.

Stora Enso is a leading provider of renewable products in packaging, biomaterials, and wood construction. The company focuses on replacing fossil-based materials with wood-based alternatives and is one of the world’s largest private forest owners. In 2024, Stora Enso employed approximately 19,000 people and reported group sales of EUR 9 billion. Its shares are listed on Nasdaq Helsinki and Nasdaq Stockholm.
