Graphic Packaging International has introduced a new range of paperboard sushi packaging to support European foodservice operators in meeting the EU’s Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD).
Designed as alternatives to traditional plastic formats, the new line includes options that are plastic-free or contain less than five percent plastic. All versions are recyclable through standard European household waste streams.
“The European sushi market is growing fast, especially in Germany, where sushi now accounts for over 30% of the ready-to-eat snack segment,” said Philipp Eissner, Business Development Manager at Graphic Packaging. “Consumers are more conscious of packaging sustainability, and this range helps operators respond.”
The portfolio includes trays, clamshells, pagoda-style boxes, and more—available with or without fog-free cellulose windows. Many formats are stackable to save space, and all are designed for easy handling and clear shelf presentation.
As SUPD rules reshape the packaging landscape, Graphic Packaging says its new offering provides a practical path forward for operators adapting to the shift away from plastic.
