Smurfit Westrock has strengthened its standing as a global packaging leader after winning 15 WorldStar Awards, highlighting its continued focus on high-performance, paper-based packaging solutions.
This year’s winning entries span point-of-sale, premium beverage and industrial applications, with sustainability emerging as a defining feature. Several solutions replaced expanded polystyrene with corrugated alternatives, delivering measurable environmental gains, including the elimination of 3.3 tonnes of plastic annually in one industrial application and a 33% reduction in CO₂ emissions in a solar panel packaging design.
Company executives said the awards underscore Smurfit Westrock’s strength in aligning innovation, sustainability, and supply-chain efficiency across its global operations.
Run by the World Packaging Organisation, the WorldStar awards recognise the most innovative packaging solutions from around the globe. The 2026 ceremony will take place on 8th May in Düsseldorf, Germany.
