Steinbeis Papier has appointed Dr Frank Wenig as Technical Managing Director, effective February 1, 2026.
He succeeds Andreas Rauscher, who will leave the company following a short handover period.
Dr Wenig, who has been with Steinbeis Papier since 2012, will oversee all technical activities across the organisation. Holding a doctorate in Wood Science and Technology, he has played a key role in advancing recycled fibre processing, paper machine operations, and the development of innovative products, including wet-strength label paper made entirely from recycled fibre.
Since October 2021, Dr Wenig has served as Head of Research and Development, where he has led product innovation and the company’s sustainability strategy, with a focus on reducing CO₂ emissions across the value chain. He will continue in this role alongside his new responsibilities.
Steinbeis Holding’s management highlighted the appointment as a strategic internal succession, citing Dr Wenig’s expertise in circular economy solutions, innovation, and sustainability as central to the company’s ambition to achieve climate-neutral paper production by 2040.
Andreas Rauscher, who has held the technical director role since February 2022, was thanked by the company for his contributions to the development of Steinbeis Papier’s technical processes.
