Grenadier Packaging has completed the acquisition of MM Packaging Leeuwarden from Mayr-Melnhof Karton AG, marking a strategic step in its expansion beyond the UK market.
Finalized on December 31, 2025, the transaction brings the Dutch folding carton producer under Grenadier Packaging’s ownership, with the business continuing to operate as a standalone site from its existing facility in Leeuwarden. The operation employs 52 people and serves customers across the Netherlands and wider European market.
MM Packaging Leeuwarden is a long-established producer of folding cartons, known for its focus on quality and long-standing customer relationships. Under the new ownership, no immediate changes are planned to day-to-day operations, management structure or supplier arrangements. The site will continue to serve its existing customer base with full continuity of supply and service.
Grenadier Packaging said the acquisition aligns with its long-term strategy to build a more geographically diversified packaging group. The company has completed six acquisitions to date and continues to evaluate additional growth opportunities across the sector.
According to Grenadier Packaging’s management, the Leeuwarden business was selected for its operational strength and stable customer relationships. The group’s near-term priority is to ensure a smooth transition for employees, customers and suppliers, while providing the site with the backing of a long-term owner.
All employees at the Leeuwarden facility are expected to transfer as part of the transaction, and existing customer agreements will remain in place. Grenadier Packaging said it will engage closely with employees, works council representatives and commercial partners throughout the transition to ensure transparency and operational stability.
