Cascades has once again secured a place among the world’s 100 most sustainable corporations, earning a seventh consecutive inclusion in Corporate Knights’ Global 100 ranking.
Revealed during the World Economic Forum in Davos, the 2026 edition places the Quebec-based company 34th worldwide, a significant rise from 59th in 2025. Cascades also retained its top position in the Containers and Packaging industry and ranked third in the Materials sector, confirming its leadership among fibre-based product manufacturers.
The Global 100 evaluates publicly traded companies with annual revenues exceeding US$1 billion, using a methodology that prioritizes the share of revenues derived from sustainable products and the level of capital invested in activities with positive environmental and social outcomes. Companies involved in “red flag” activities such as thermal coal, deforestation or climate-policy obstruction are excluded.
According to Corporate Knights, Cascades stood out for the high contribution of products made from recycled or certified fibres to its revenue base, as well as for continued investments aimed at improving environmental performance across its operations.
“This year, we focused exclusively on what portion of each business is actually making the world more sustainable,” said Toby Heaps, Chief Executive Officer of Corporate Knights. “We put particular emphasis on momentum and speed of improvement, given the growing urgency around not just carbon emissions, but the many ways in which business activity is outstripping our planet’s carrying capacity.”
Corporate Knights reported that, in 2026, Global 100 companies generated roughly 60% of both revenues and investments from sustainable activities, compared with 17% of revenues and 13% of investments across the broader universe of large corporations. As a group, the Global 100 also outperformed global peers in financial returns.
For Cascades, the improved ranking aligns with a longer-term business strategy that positions sustainability as a core operational and investment driver, as the company prepares its next sustainable development plan for the 2026–2030 period.
Founded in 1964, Cascades provides sustainable, innovative and value-added packaging, hygiene and recovery solutions. The company employs nearly 9,500 people across close to 65 operating facilities in North America. Cascades’ shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol CAS.
